How much grief is V6 Manual DIY maintenance in 2023? Posted by iveand [Email] (#3155) [Profile/Gallery] (more from iveand) on Mon, 6 Feb 2023 11:54:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have read older threads on the topic, but a discussion in 2012 on a 6 year old car is quite different than on a 17 year old car.
So I am looking for feedback more up-to-date on cars that are now around 200K but maintained well. Many say the 2.0T is the "real" Saab 9-3, and certainly there is more room under the hood for it. But how bad is it really working on a V6? I mean does the engine need to go out for even minor things? I would only consider manual transmissions, btw, even though the newer autos seem quite reliable.
I guess I am wondering if I am just asking for grief in considering a V6. I am quite familiar with work on my 90 SPG btw, so anything where the engine is in sideways instead of backward like a "true Saab" will be a bit of a learning curve (I did have a 96 900S for some years and did quite a bit on it too).
Thanks for any refreshed perspective on this well worn topic.
