Im in a bit of a jam here, my '00 SE had the head gasket replaced three months ago and up until this weekends happenings had been acting up a bit. It would take two or three attempts to start, after warmed up the oil pressure light would come on at low rpm and after sitting a bit i would get the blue/grey puff of smoke on start up. Well this weekend i started the car and headed out, shortly after the car began to stutter, puff white smoke and the engine light came on. Brought the car to Saab Dealer/Service, they said it was the turbo along with all the gaskets and hoses (without any more specifity) and to repair all that assuming nothing internal was wrong would cost over $3k... I paid $4500 for the car a year ago and already sank $1500 for the head gasket job. I dont have $3k to spend and i cannot take a $5000 hit and lose the car.
So my questions are,
1. Does the diag of the turbo sound accurate?
2. If so are there pictures on the web of a turbo replacement for a DIY'er?
3. Where can i order a turbo (eeuroparts has a turbo bypass is that the same?)
4. What can i look for myself? What Would a Saaber Do?
