My 2000 wagon does not have a cap but my 2001 wagon does. It's a simple aluminum cap so it shouldn't cost too much to get a couple. On the other hand, I just pack the area with some lithium grease and it seems to have worked pretty well with PA road salt. That's a pretty big nut so I wouldn't worry about failure, but I try to make things easier for myself if I have to get it off.
