Thanks for all the great advise!
I ended up having the car towed through Saab Roadside Assistance to my preferred dealer, 35-miles away, which cost me $136. I called Saab Customer Service to explain to them why I wanted to go to the dealer that was located further away. They were nice, but said they'd only pay to have it towed to the nearest dealer. Oh well.
Thanks to the efforts of my dealer, hence their well deserved preference, I was able to get the repair done under warranty. I had taken the car in a couple of weeks ago on the day the 4-year warranty expired. They needed to order a couple of minor parts so the warranty ticket was left open. They received the late last week, but I hadn't had a chance to get it in to them yet. Well, having that warranty ticket open allowed them to sneak in the heater bypass valve repair on that open ticket.
The warranty gravy train has now officially left the station for my 9-5!
Again, thanks for the great and timely advice!
