... cause they've always been scarce here in California! Strange that you mention "early" 9-5s, because if I actually do see another 9-5, 90% of the time, it's older than my 2k2 Aero. I see maybe two 9-5s in about a month's worth of driving in the Bay Area. 900s and 9-3s are usually the only Saabs I see, and even those are few and far between! Compared to countless Corollas (::yawn::) that you see every day...
I also know a lot of Saabs around here by sight - there's the 9-2x, 900 'vert, and 9-5 SC that I see at work most days (and there are ~4700 people at the factory I work at! only 4 Saabs!!). There's also family down a block from my dad with a 9-5 and 9-7x.
I'm sure California is much easier than Toronto for cars to go 10+ years - I'll keep everyone updated as I work on it ;-). Speaking of which, my Aero will be celebrating it's 3rd birthday this Friday (same as my fiancée). Ok, ok, so the math doesn't work out, but we don't talk about my Aero's first relationship (it was someone in Washington state, that's all I know - my Saab and I have a don't ask-don't tell policy with each other).
Either way, I do enjoy the fact that I often times share a smile or friendly wave between other Saab drivers here! Although sometimes it's so lonely, I start feeling kinship with Volvo drivers (LOL). I imagine driving a Saab in California (or anywhere!) is like being American military living overseas - you know every other American nearby, and even though there are differences between us and them, for us "different" equals "better!"
