Little plastic plug
Posted by bmwjoe [Email] (more from bmwjoe) on Mon, 8 Mar 2010 05:47:58
I am in the middle of changing the clutch on my 2000 LPT Wagon. It is slow going, but it is going. One of the first items in the procedure is take a plastic plug out of the transmission and insert an alignment pin. Well I don't have the plug. The hole was completely open.
- Is there supposed to be a plug in there? It could be that they did not bother with these plugs after a while in production. Do others have this plug?
- Is there any arm in plugging this hole with a bolt? My concern is that this plug may also be the vent for the gearbox and plugging it would be a bad thing. If this is not the vent, where does the gearbox vent?
