Any help would be really appreciated!

For the last couple months my '99 9-5 has been stalling out (only when stopped). Took it to the shop and they fixed a hose then cleaned the fuel line. Still it kept stalling. I took it back and they told me it was a bad direct ignition cassette. Replaced that. It still would stall out every so often. Within the last week my car started bucking/chugging, especially when shifting through lower gears and accelerating. Then the other day it finally just shut off while I was driving. I was able to turn it back on right away, but each time I did it shut off as soon as I applied gas. The mechanic first told me it was the crank position sensor. They replaced that, but it didn't fix anything. Now they're telling me they're certain that it's the ECU. I've spent a lot of money on their "fixes" so far, all of which have been wrong. And by the look of things, an ECU failure appears to be super unusual. I'm being quoted $750 for a new ECU (the mechanic just calls it "the computer") and based on their track record, I'm not convinced that'll be the answer. I can't even seem to find the right ECU online to make sure the price is fair. I could get the car towed to a good Saab mechanic (from what I hear), but he's about 45 miles from here. Any advice/insight on this type of problem would be really appreciated. Thanks!
