I have a (new to me) 2002 Saab 9-5 3.0t. I have excellent service records for the vehicle and it has been running perfectly since I bought it in June. Took it in for an oil change several weeks ago and the shop noticed "a sheen of oil" in the coolant. I had them flush and fill, and now two weeks and 100 miles or so later, there is more evident oil in the coolant although it still doesn't look nearly as bad as many photos I have seen online. Just a brownish tint and some stuff floating on the top, not full on milkshake. I investigated here and elsewhere and am guessing I need the oil cooler replaced. I have been quoted $1000 - $1200 for the job. Questions: Are there other parts or maintenance that I would be wise to do now while this is going on? (i.e. thermostat, plugs, gaskets) The local shop specializes in Swedish cars, though he says he hasn't done this oil cooler job in a couple of years. Should I take it to someone with more experience with this specific repair? Thanks in advance!
