Now when I have gotten my eyes on checking the battery cable extra careful on both 4cyl and V6, I notice more or less burned lug ring at alternator on many of them.
The alternator is just too powerful nowadays (140A) coupled with an ever increasing demand for more power from the car. And the size of the battery cable has not grown in size since the 80s when the alternator had a mere 60-80A output.
