Dexron-VI is OK for the 4-speed autos Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 9 Sep 2011 09:11:43 In Reply to: Absolutely not!, Larry West [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 8 Sep 2011 12:45:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The 4-speed autos were designed around use of Dexron-III, but the newer Dexron-VI fluid is backwards compatible as a substitute for all earlier versions of Dexron fluids.
I still use fluids labeled MD3 or similar which is nomenclature for fluids blended to the obsolete Mercor/Dexron-III standards, only because they are cheaper. But the cost of Dexron-VI keeps dropping so I may switch to the newer stuff soon.
