My 2004 9-5 ARC requires a steering Angle Sensor ($1100 for the part alone, plus 2.5 hours labor). According to the dealership, if the part itself is non-functional, there is no recourse. No returns. No warranty. Nothing. I will go ahead with the repair because I have an extended warranty. Also note, according to the dealer, the warranty company will not agree to pay to fix this issue twice. Evidently, they have experienced this issue before. Also note, for some reason this part is paired with the Twice system and requires a Tech2. Does this mean only a new Steering Angle Sensor will work?

This is bad news and may cause me to sell my car which only has 62K miles and is otherwise very good. I don't expect much in terms of resale, perhaps $6000. I bought the car new and expected to keep it at least 2-3 more years. Sad.

Can anyone provide a list of parts that are exclusive to Saab? If I thought I could get by using aftermarket parts, perhaps I would not dump the car quickly.
