All rear bulbs are the proper configuration, and I pulled the cover off the center brake light to verify all bulbs illuminate- everything checked out.

Now, because I have the cover off I was able to observe in the rear view mirror that the center brake light actually gets less bright when I press the brake pedal. It's lit with no pedal pressure, it's still lit with pedal pressure, but with what appears to be a lower light output level. I'm going to have someone verify this tomorrow.

As of now, I don't appear to have any properly-functioning brake lights at all. I have also noticed that both tail light bulbs in the red area are lit when I turn the headlights on- does the brake circuit use 1 bulb and the tail light circuit another, or does the brake just make the tail light bulbs brighter?

My research prior to my first post pointed to needing to replace the center brake light assembly, so I have one on the way. This weekend I am doing the trunk wiring harness fix; I can't see why the electrics in the trunk panel would be wired with the brake lights, but I'll see if that fixes the problem. So far I have only lost one of the reverse lights and when I pulled back on the black tube I saw one severed wire and 2 with cuts in the insulation.

My plan, in order, is to first fix the trunk wiring harness top see if that fixes the problem, then replace the center brake light assembly (I broke the retainer clip when I removed the cover), replace all the bulbs in the rear of the car (just because). If I still have problems I'll replace the brake pedal switch too.
