Jump start with marine/RV battery? Posted by jgARC03SW [Email] (#1216) [Profile/Gallery] (more from jgARC03SW) on Wed, 31 Oct 2012 06:48:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have read that you don't want to connect batteries of different types. My RV/Marine battery that I bought for my backup sump pump before Sandy hit seems like a regular automotive battery with extra screw terminals for connecting things (in my case my backup sump pump). I didn't use it for the storm luckliy we kept power. But I wonder if I am stuck at home one day and the car won't start cold in the morning (it's been sluggishly slow to start for a while now, alternator works and I just replaced CPS when it wouldn't start hot last month) so I wonder can I use the RV/marine battery in a pinch. The marine is deep cycle so it might be meant for long duration, use it till it runs out unlike a car battery which is meant for a lot of amps quickly. However the RV/marine battery does have a 550 CCA rating.
TIA
