Here's a bit of an example that I hope will push you towards the 9-5.
We recently had to drive in at 5:00am (Toronto Greater Area) to the hospital for early birth of our son. About 10cm of snow were on the ground ans still snowing. I jumped into my wife's 2008 Rav4 and started going. I did not feel the grab of the road that made me feel comfortable to drive 40 minutes to our hospital that I get in my 2002 9-5 Aero. I turned around after 5 minutes; got her into the Saab, and drove 'the speed limit' all the way with zero stress and ability to focus on what was important.
The Rav has newer BF Goodrich all season's, but the 9-5 (with cheap winters) seems to grab the road very well; and a sense of security that we'll stay on the road. I also like the lower centre of gravity for highway ramps and turns.
Sometimes it is shear comfort that allows one to be in a better position and not the car's fault.
You know where my vote is...
Safe travels
Tony S.
