Autodim Rearview Mirror Apparent Failure (2000 9-5 SE) Posted by FredKolb12 [Email] (#46) [Profile/Gallery] (more from FredKolb12) on Fri, 15 Mar 2013 10:25:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
As per the subject, the rearview mirror has decided to fail. As of yet, I have NOT pulled the covers to test for voltage at the plug. The switch may be the problem as it does not stay **in** the retracted postion when pushed and there is no response from the mirror even if switch is held in. I seem to remember a faint green glow from a pilot light on it, but there is none now).
The mirror itself seems to be sealed and "non-serviceable."
Has anyone ever fixed one or tried to? If I can get the case open without totally destroying it and the switch *IS* bad, I'll just bridge the circuit and leave it on by placing a bypass jumper on the board.
Failing to be able to service it, I'll probably opt for some tinted window film to cut glare at night. Don't want to spend a whole bunch on a new one, although I might try to locate a used one at salvage.
Suggestions / experiences welcomed.
