CHECK THE OIL PRESSURE Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Fri, 27 Sep 2013 10:18:11 In Reply to: Re: Low oil pressure, Philip Schall, Fri, 27 Sep 2013 09:09:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I would put a real gauge on it and really check the oil pressure. See what you have. Check the WIS on how to do this.
the oil pressure switch in NOT a sensor. It is a switch that is set for 5-8 pounds per inch of pressure. It goes on when you drop below its preset level. If the switch is good, it is telling you that you have that kind of pressure when it is low.
I have a real oil pressure gauge and sender in my car so I know what I have at all times in the way of oil pressure. On a really hot day the pressure at idle can go down to 10 or 12 if I have more than 2000 miles on the oil.
