I bought the aircraft epoxy which supposedly can be down with the tank in place, but I actually went a different repair route. I removed the tank from the car and bought an ATV plastic fender repair kit. This isn't much different than a wood burning or soldering iron with a special tip to feed HDPE (or other type plastic rods) through to heat weld the crack in the tank leak detector pedestal. You first have to find the crack and then cut it open a little with an Exacto knife to get to the bottom. I embedded some stainless mesh into the welded patch to make it hold for good! I've attempted some other plastic repairs on the car with lesser success (seat side skirt where the electric seat controls are mounted). I used scrap polypropylene sprinkler pipe for weld material to match the poly seat skirt. Best of luck! This fuel tank crack should have been a recall or QC issue, since it occurred on an OEM replacemnent tank installed after an accident on my car. Kirk d
