Fuel line check valves are the L-shaped fittings that plug into the top of the fuel pump assembly. They are available as a set of 2 with the O-rings from Eeuroparts for ~$10. However, be warned, they are a high risk endeavor, the fuel lines seem to be shrink fit over them, so they are a real pain to get off, especially in the cold and the old ones are very likely to fracture when you are taking them off. I would not put these down as the first things to do, if you are troubleshooting.
With respect to your other question: My RPM and boost were climbing together in normal fashion, until it felt like the fuel just cut out. I think that the fuel was just not generating enough pressure in the fuel line, causing the pressure to drop too low when I gave it some throttle.
Good Luck!
