I took a careful look at the (+) battery cable and it's got a little bit of corrosion on it at the cable just under the terminating connector. I'll check continuity from the connector to the starter once I get home. New (+) cables are available from eEuro for about $145 with all the nice lugs and fittings on them. I have access to dielectric and IR testers and can take the old cable out and test it.
If the resistance in the cable check out at <0.5 ohm I'll coat the exposed cables very well with water resistant grease.
