If you want to maximize the dollars you get out of the car, you'll have to sell it yourself. Craigslist, Saabnet, eBay, local classifieds, club newsletters, all will help you sell the car.
While it does look like the Lexus dealer "forgot" to add in the over $3,000 for the low miles, he may just not want the car. After all, who is going into a Lexus dealer to buy a used Saab?
Dealers can't buy a car or take a trade based on retail value, there has to be some "meat on the bone" for them to get some cash out of it, after they detail it, fix things, store it, etc., or, there's got to be enough for that dealer to have it auctioned, get a little back, and the next buyer (most likely another dealer) to get some cash out.
NADA guides shows about a $2,500 difference between "clean trade-in" and "clean retail" for a 2008 Aero sedan with 35k & auto trans, which is a pittance, if it needs almost anything. If it has accidents, however minor, and they show up on a report, the dealer will have a very hard time selling it.
My advice: pay for your own CarFax or other report, make it available to potential buyers when they look at the car (they'll have their own CarFax done, if they're smart). The $35 or so they cost today will be cheap if it helps you get an extra couple hundred or even thousand in the sale.
