What's not apparent is the planning horizon. If the intent is to keep the car for only a couple of years, then depreciation will be nil and expenses should be low as well - go for it.
On the other hand if the planning horizon is more than five years then look carefully at items bumping up their respective replacement intervals and consider what jobs are DIY in your monetary calculations. My experience with older cars held for long periods of time (> 5 years) is that decent tires are perhaps one of the biggest expenses. A well maintained European car will not drop much below $2k no matter how many miles it has - but then my version of "well maintained" is about $1,500 / year mostly in parts.
I agree that "no rust to speak of" probably means that there will be some bubbling ahead of the rear wheels at the rocker panels. If you have that fixed professionally it'll run at least $700 a side - ask me how I know.
