I ran 205/55/16 Dunlop Wintersport M3 tires on my 03 9-5 Aero and it was fine, but I would consider them more all-season than full-out snow tires. I'm running 205/55/16 Firestone Winterforce tires on my 02 9-3 SE, and they're mushy with poor on-center steering feel. Expect more float with full-out snow tires compared to performance snow tires which act more like all-seasons. Keep in mind that 205 is already 2 widths narrower than the stock size for a 9-5 Aero. You can certain go narrower, but how much more snow traction are you looking for? If you go narrower, make sure that the tire retains the appropriate load rating to combat excessive mushiness.
