Took apart the donor car... Posted by Larry West [Email] (#1140) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Larry West) on Wed, 29 Apr 2015 07:04:09 In Reply to: Heater Box R&R Tips & Tricks? ...last night. In in less than two and a half hours, I had the dashboard removed, the steering column dropped, most of the bolts that needed removing removed, and the bar was just held in by two bolts hand threaded. It was apart a bit, but no more than about 20-30 minutes worth.
Going back tomorrow to drop the pedal assembly, clip the wire ties, and hopefully bring the box home. Then all I need to do is plan the time and place to swap the one in my car.
Everything seems straightforward, I've not encountered any really fiddly bits, though I did need a bit of help to find the strap that holds the passenger airbag to the bar.
I'll need to have the AC purged before I try the job, then figure out how to either drain the heater core, or seal it.
