Topping off with Dex-cool in the expansion tank Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Tue, 5 May 2015 09:30:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Yesterday I got the "Low coolant" warning on my 2008 9-5 SportCombi. I bought this 9-5 about 8 months ago and it seems to have the original from the factory orange coolant that I assume is Dex-cool.
For adding 50-50 Dex-cool to the expansion tank, I want to be sure I understand the marking on the tank. Near the top is the word "Cold" with a long horizontal line under it. That line has a perpendicular vertical line going to down to another small horizontal line just above the seam between the top half and bottom half of the expansion tank. I assume this lower horizontal line is the fill line when the engine is cold...is that correct? (The owner's manual was not clear on the markings and just said to fill to the "Cold" line.)
