Well, I had an 01. It had every issue ever mentioned here during the 6 years I owned it. Finally written off due to a deer strike at 220,000kms. I have the maintenance records here and it seems like every oil change also required some kind of major repair (or pre-emptive maintenance) at the same time.
My '05 was much better but I didn't own it as long.
On the other hand, had the '01 been reliable it would have been the perfect car in terms of the balance of practicality, comfort, sport, safety, economy.
