How many times can I have a front wheel bearing replaced before I need to get a new steering knuckle? I purchased my 1999 9-5 used at 65K miles and at 100K I had both front bearings pressed out and in at a quality indie Saab shop with new bearings and both steering knuckles I brought in. And 2 years ago, with squeaky passenger side, I made the mistake of taking the yoke and new bearing to a local gonzo mechanic who must have beat on it badly so that 1 year ago I was back to the quality indie shop with a new quality SKF bearing in hand and a new Febie hub he sold me for the same yoke I brought in for pressing. And now, at 217K miles after running over some road debris that seemed to really yank on the passenger side, I'm getting the same squeaky squawk bad bearing noise!! I now suspect that the outer race to knuckle clearance is not so tight and I should maybe look into adding some Locktite specialty bearing retainer product if I plan to use this same steering knuckle again. I reach this conclusion after a similar failure of my Wazee's serpentine idler pulley with replaceable roller bearing. The roller bearings seem to roll fine, but the outer race seems to have been slipping in the press fit pulley recess. Some other Saab repair site contributor mentioned that 1999 steering yokes can develop such a slippage? Please discuss soonest. Thanx,
