The bulge on the downpipe is the catalytic converter. There is only a flex pipe on the next pipe in the exhaust stream. You can't legally buy a used catalytic converter, but you might be able to get a junk yard to sell you a "down pipe" from a low mileage car that happens to have a cat in it. Unless the cat is seriously overheated like yours, the factory ones will usually last 200 K miles, at least.
A second option would be to remove the pipe and have a new cat welded in place of the damaged one. If you can trust the shop you can get a better quality cat installed. Unfortunately the cheap ones can fail in as little as 20 K miles.
