Sounds like the plugs should be replaced anyways as maintenance, then see what happens. The flashing CEL indicates that ignition is not happening and unburned fuel could melt the catalytic convertor core.
In these cases, one should pull plugs and read them. Easy with the 4 cylinder engines, not for the V6. But some should be easy to sample.
Have you had any good highway runs that can burn the plugs clean? Missing can also foul the plugs making things worse and worse.
