2004 Arc - recently completed an engine swap, replaced all the vacuum hoses, plugged the hose for the heater bypass valve after installing Mackay hoses. Fresh fuel in tank. Started up, and the idle fluctuated wildly, car stalled. Repeated several times. Codes were misfire on cylinder 4, catalyst damaging misfire, pending misfire codes. Replaced the plugs with new, swapped out DIC. No change. Unplugged the MAF sensor, car started right up, idles fine, and drives fine. Throws a MAF sensor code, but no others. Time for a new MAF sensor? Or did unplugging it mask a different issue?
