I feel your pain. The only 'problem' paint/color for Saabs that I know of is the red. For that matter, red for just about any car. I've seen fading & peeling on both saabs and porches (the 'guards red' on porches were know for this).
Cleaning and waxing a few times a year helps to reduce the sun damage.
Anyway, my suggestion is a good body shop should correct the problem by stripping and repainting & clear coating. I would not get rid of the car because of this. The horizontal surfaces see the most sun and are more prone to damage so it makes (to me) no sense to paint the whole car. A good shop should match the paint perfectly.
Anecdotally, as a general statement, the Generals paints suck. Have experienced this first hand and also from a number of family members and friends. IDK if they cheapened Saab paints..but I would not put it past them.
