It could also be the MAF itself or MAF circuit.
Measure the voltage at the MAF connector. They should be around 5VDC on pin 1, 0V on 2 and 12VDC on 3. If the values are very close to these, its a pretty good indicator that the circuit is good.
Clean the MAF with MAF cleaner and also clean the contacts.
If the MAF is original, a new Genuine Saab one is not very expensive and easy to replace, and I'd consider doing ahead with that.
