Roger I don't use an impact wrench but I have the same issue when using my torque wrench to tighten the lugs, the socket jams on the lug. In my case it is the corrosion that has built up on the lug over the years. I tap the socket lightly with a breaker bar and it loosens up. I should probably use a wire brush to clean them up one day.
