It is used to suck in fumes for emissions, that's true, but also control oil consumption -
you could just connect a host directly from the valve cover to the drain into the pan (look at the bottom of the plastic catch tank, hose comes out to drain excess oil to the oilpan) but the car will likely cause some sort of problem since the tuning is picky about PCV -
then again if the crankcase sludges up or it runs bad etc, you'll regret it...
Most racing engines have a large amount of blowby due to compress and they use oil catch tanks and that also feeds the main crankcase to prevent starvation
The only thing I see break is the valve that connects the rubber hose from the throttle body to the hard plastic line that goes to the catch tank - but I found them on eBay for 20 bucks not 50-100 so now Im fine replacing it if it gets 5 years old...
Same with that pastic catch on the valve cover - buy a few cheap
