I use them and like them.
the really cheap ones are crap with high failure rates and flaky bluetooth ... but you can buy 3 and 4, keep the one that works for you and send the others back. Amazon makes it easy to do that.
but I bought a bafx, decent quality, decent price: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NLQAHS/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B005NLQAHS&linkCode=as2&tag=thesaabnetwork and like it. I use the carista app on my android phone. I also use the torque app. (I like carista better).

no reason I can think of to choose one over the other. They do the same thing and "dont do" the same things (abs, etc). I'd say that they both do the job equally well. the one caveat are the super cheap ones on amazon ... if you get a flaky one it is frustrating.
The bluetooth readers are inexpensive enough that I have one for each car, and keep it in the glovebox. That is the main reason I use them.
