Jalousie replacement on 2006+ cars Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 3 Feb 2019 08:30:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I did this job on my 2000 many years ago, I have a replacement jalousie and replacement lamps for the items exposed once the gear shift cover is opened (Power Outlet, Lock Switch, PRNDL). I also have a salvaged gear shift cover that I painted in an attempt to match the dashboard of my Aero - fail.
The gear shift cover looks even weaker than that used in the 1999 thru 2005 models. The WIS is not overly clear in this removal process other than calling for a straight taped blade trim removal tool. And in case anyone is keeping track, I bought these parts nearly 12 months ago but haven't gotten them installed yet.
Does the immobilizer cover need to be removed from around the key switch?
Any special tips or tricks?
Has anyone affixed a strip of strong fabric tape on the back side of the Jalousie to keep the pieces together if the strip fails a second time?
