Could be the clutch even at that mileage.
When I was a kid, I remember reading the owner's manual on our 1959 93b and it was very strong on what to do and not do with a clutch.
Don't ride it.
Don't rest your foot on the pedal.
Don't use it as a hill holder.
You never know how the PO drove the car.
I remember riding with one of my sales people years ago in his VW beatle. We were on a steep hill waiting for a light and he was riding the clutch as a hill holder. I asked what the hell he was doing and he said I always do this!!!1
