I went with the tried and true Parrot CK3100, although any unit will work as long as you have a wiring diagram. The honest reason I went with that unit was the aesthetic seemed to match my 03 interior better than the newer units. It really blends in well and has no distracting lights.
I think I would avoid the Motorola unit, as there is a fair amount of difficulty pairing newer devices.
Yes, I installed the Parrot mic - pretty easy to pull down the center light, clip the mic on, and run the wiring under the headliner, down the a pillar and through the dash.
If you have the wiring harness, pin outs, and the Onstar button, it should be plug and play.
Keep in mind I have no experience with the Dame Edna, so YMMV. I was never able to get the steering wheel buttons to work in the 9-3, but never found it inconvenient to mash the button on the bluetooth unit and speak the name of who I wanted to call.
