Jimmy may be correct about the positive battery cable, but a good lead acid battery should have a resting voltage of at least 12.3V. You would not be the first SAAB owner to have the store or shop tell them the battery was fine while it was really on its way out.
My daughter's '06 9-5 was giving a similar "Christmas Tree" effect, and the battery at rest was only 12.0V, while under charge by the alternator it was about 14V. I drove it over 30 miles, popped the hood, and measured 14V charging, and 12.0V to 11.9V with car off. The battery was just out of full replacement warranty (24 mo), so she had to pony up about $25 for the new one.
Meanwhile on her sister's car I swapped in a good used positive battery cable just weeks ago, because I noticed melted insulation on the alternator end while I was doing other work. It's a long story why I had a spare cable sitting in the garage.
Best of luck on this either way.
