The first time this happened was about 8 months ago. Yes, we blamed it on water getting into the carpeting. No start (locks, windows, etc. all work as normal). Had the car towed to the garage where it started right up. After the 90K tuneup and service, it has performed relatively consistently until now. Recently, the siren has been going off, so my SO, the main driver, removed the fuse for the siren which also inactivated the a/c. Recently, the 4-way flashers go off whether the doors are locked or not and will flash continuously. I put a charger on the battery to keep the power up. But, now, the "key not accepted" message posts and the engine will not turn over. Both keys give the same result. No, the keys have not gone thru the laundry cycle, and holding down the unlock tab while turning the key does not result in any improvement. My intent is to remove and rehab the siren box--new batteries, new capacitors--and reinstall. Do not know if reinserting the removed fuse will aid the start situation, or not. I hate to pay for a tow just to jar something to make the keys acceptable again. Sorry this SAAB story is so long.
