what the heck is wrong with my heating/cooling? Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Thu, 7 Nov 2019 06:29:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I bought an '07 9-5 Aero wagon a couple of months ago. It was just at the tail end of the a/c driving season, and I did experience some weirdness. The a/c functioned, but it was weak. At first it seemed like the issue was to do with the blower not blowing hard enough, but I also noticed that it worked much better when the car was moving. I found one of the two rad fans not blowing, and it turned out to just be a connection. So with both fans running, the a/c was operating well enough that I didn't think more of it. I had to set the temperature to lower than I would have expected, but I figured that was just a quirk of the car.
Now that it's cold enough to need the heater, I'm sure there's something wrong. While it does heat, and so far I've been able to keep the windows clear and whatnot, it's definitely struggling. My feet are cold, even though it's barely below freezing outside. I set the controls to full floor heat, and the temp to 26C, still cold. It actually doesn't seem to make any difference what I set the temperature to. If I put the control to full mid-console heat, I can feel hot air there but the air velocity is very low.
Any ideas? Blower motor, control module, cabin air filter?
