In the Manuals section of this website, you will find a link to an online WIS (workshop information system) that will be useful using addressing your questions.
If the 2007 is like the earlier years (I have a 2003), the filter is a pretty easy DIY, with the biggest challenge being access.
Essentially it involves removing some trim, the glove box (all designed to be removed and replaced so not scary), an access panel with a half dozen screws, remove the filter, shop vac the housing, install new filter and button up in reverse. All that said, access under the dash is very tight, and especially the first time you need to take your time and be patient. There are some wiring harnesses that are in the way, but can be shifted just enough to slide the filter in and out.. The Mann filter has a nice instruction sheet in it as well.
Have you run a self-diagnostic on your ACC? Press Off and Auto at the same time and release - the ACC will cycle through a self calibration and will report back on the ACC screen; the left side will show the number of faults found, and the right will give a 2 digit number indicating the fault number. Search the board for guidance on the various faults.
Good luck
