Help diagnose my TPMS Posted by bobc [Email] (#473) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bobc) on Sun, 1 Dec 2019 08:44:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Patient: 2006 2.3T SC
Symptom: recurring "Tire pressure system failure. Contact service" on SID
Fault code: C0753
Action taken: local shop replaced the right rear wheel sensor. Local shop is good, but not Saab experts. They have a tech 2 with Saab software. They mentioned "the message might come back, we noticed intermittent readings from the module and we believe that you need a new TPMS module, however the part appears to be NLA. You might be able to find a used part.
They were right, the message came back. I did a little more digging with my tech 2:
- code is back and its C0753 again (air valve #3 ... right rear)
- I used the "read values" function on the tech 2 and noticed that all sensors read wheel pressure of zero and tire temp of -50.
- I used the "learn function" and relearn the sensors. after this completed:
. Only sensor 3 (right rear) read pressure of zero, the others reported values of ~240kPa.
. Only sensor 3 reported tire temp of -50, the others reported ~12 degrees C
. Only sensor 3 reports a left/right position of "unknown"
This strikes me a faulty sensor plain and simple, this is a brand new non-OEM sensor and we all have seen faulty parts out of the box.
Am I missing something? Is it possible that this is in fact the TPMS Module itself? Is there anyway to confirm it's the sensor or the TPMS Module?
