While batteries can go at any point, anytime around three years or beyond, they are especially suspect. I would start there with a proper battery load test and likely replacement.
Also worth having a voltage drop test (again at load) done on the positive battery cable, especially if it is original. These cables corrode internally and build up resistance such that the alternator, especially on short trips, can’t recharge the battery as quickly as it should.
