Towing capacity for an '08 Aero Sedan? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 31 Jan 2020 16:42:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I find conflicting weight limits for the maximum recommended towing capacity. The most commonly reported value is 3500 pounds, but there is no mention whether that requires trailer brakes. I remember that Ian used his older 9-5 to tow a light weight travel trailer.
My plan is for a total load of 1200 to 1300 pounds, well below the common limit but without trailer brakes. This total is ~500 pounds for an aluminum open car trailer and ~750 pounds for the formula car it will be carrying.
Is this load OK without trailer brakes?
I will need to tow the car from North Central PA back to Michigan. Tow the chassis around the local area for painting and roll-bar fitting. Then maybe tow the completed car to SOC (it won't be ready by Carlisle time).
Formula car, SOC.... yeah, I found one of those not fully built.
