SOLVED - Alternator Posted by Doug W [Email] (#2371) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Doug W) on Sat, 21 Mar 2020 12:06:41 In Reply to: Re: CPS will not cause no crank condition., Doug W [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 20 Mar 2020 16:57:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The Alternator I had installed in July of 2018 went bad. Voltage was hovering around 13.1 - 13.3 during operation and it was not charging the battery. Resting voltage was < 12 VDC.
The new one (AL0813X) is running rock solid at 14.1 VDC with no more than .1 VDC fluctuation with no accessories on. With accessories it's around 13.6 - 13.8 VDC.
No more starting issues. I'll likely swap out the starter relay just as a precaution. It's original.
It dismays me that an alternator would only last 20 months when the original one went 14 years.
