Occasionally spirited driver, but usually sedate

Always premium fuel. Usually non ethanol

I live in a temperate climate (NC)

Always M1 0W40 OR 20W50. purolator, mann or Mobil 1 filters. Oil change interval 4000mi. Dropped pan at 180k or so, it was not pristine but was not bad.

Mild tune, sport exhaust, had open air filter for about 3 years (2010-2013)

No engine work

I've owned the car for 16 yrs, bought it with 50k on it. Been a remarkably reliable car. I'm on top off maintenance.

This winter I noticed that there was valve noise upon startup on cold mornings, but it went away as car warmed. That was the only hint of impending doom.
