Front Caliper Bolts Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 5 Apr 2020 13:13:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just when I think I have all the parts needed for a full brake job on my '08 9-5, I find something new. This time it is the front caliper bolts.
Per the WIS, the font caliper bolts are to be tightened to 100 ft-lbs plus 45 degrees, with Thread-Lok! Tightening a specific angular amount past a specified torque amount is common for head-bolts, which are "Stretch Bolts" and intended for a single use.
Are the front caliper mounting bolts intended to be used only once?
Thanks!
BTW - The WIS has a huge error in the torque requirements for these bolts. Under the "Rotors & Pads" instructions the torque amount is only 4 ft-lbs! The WIS duplicates the torque for the rotor anchoring screw. Under the "Footbrake" section the more than 25 times higher torque setting is given.
