Flakey stuff happens thats a one-off but it's more often a warning to replace it IMHO. Typically with resettables, I reset and then start searching for the solution, consequences of non-replacement and finally best source for the part (sometimes used is the best alternative but not for a TB). TB's are a common problem at high mileage intervals. I believe it's one weak squirrley electronic component that does them all in. BBA remanufactures them - I have a spare in the basement. A suspect TB makes the vehicle unsafe IMHO since it can hesitate or stall at a critical moment. In the end, 9-5 owners should treat the replacement as routine predictive maintenance item although i have read some owners never have to replace them over high mileages. It's one of the higher cost components though so it hurts more than usual. Fortunately, easy to replace so DIY it ends up costing less than an oil change at a Jaguar dealer.
