Oil cooler thermostat delete? Posted by LawrenceJ [Email] (#926) [Profile/Gallery] (more from LawrenceJ) on Sun, 27 Sep 2020 12:53:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello all,
I'm toying with the idea of removing my '07 9-5 Aero's oil thermostat and spring at my next oil change. My thinking is that this change would lower the oil running temperature and preserve the oil's lubricating properties. On the other hand I'm aware that the oil should reach a proper temperature to boil off contaminants which build up over time (condensation, etc.) I live in southern Texas, so even December, January low temps are still generally around 50 degrees F.
I'd be interested in any comments or observations.
