Hi there,
My current Aero 2006 9-5 sedan is already my 4th Saab. I am from Germany, so excuse my words here and there.
2 days ago, while overtaking another car, the engine light came on and at the same time the engine went off.
At home (after some breakdown service) I started to look for the culprit. I did not check the fuse at the time but thought about either fuel pump or crank sensor after I asked in a German Saab board.
So I got a new fuel pump. The mesh/strainer thing on the old original pump was black, so I decided to get a hole new unit. Then I saw that it was the fuse (20A) that broke. New fuse inserted, new pump installed -> bang, fuse broke instantly when turning on iginition!
Ok, there must be a short I thought. I browsed some sites and stranded here:
2007 9-5 Aero Fuel Pump Fuse
Hello, Looking for help with my 2007 9-5 Aero Wagon. 187k miles 4cyl. Auto. While driving home, the car quit at a stop light while idling. Upon inspection, the fuel pump fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and the car started right up. Within a short time, the fuse blew again. Since the fuel...
So I checked the 2 O2 sensors. The cables and connectors were ok apparently. I followed the simple steps listed in the above thread.
The only tool I had on hands was a simple multimeter that could measure resistance and stuff. With the setting on 200 Ohms and the beeping, I could find a beep when checking the lower fuse nozzle against mass. The pump connector already DISconnected. So I thought, great, the oxygen sensors are down. I unplugged those and the beep was gone. I reconnected one sensor after another and the beep stayed out. Ok, whats that. I checkd the cables, unmounted the lower sensor from the exhaust to check it more thoroughly. COuld not find anything.
I then connected all the jacks as they are supposed to be, put in a new fuse and started the engine as if nothing ever happened.
So, as this is very unsatisfying and I could not find a real culprit, I really do not want to drive with that car now.
Ah, I forgot: Before putting in a new fuse I checked again and I measured resistance between lower fuse socket an car mass. But anyway, the pump ran and the engine starts. I kept it running for some time, everything seems to be ok...but...
any ideas, any approach?
Thanks alot,
buggy
